A Visit to Vermont

Mike has a friend from the academy that lives in Vermont. He and his gracious wife let us come and visit and stay with them for President’s Day/Valentine’s weekend. They live in Newport, VT which is like 2 miles from the Canadian border. It was so fun! And cold!

Sorry the pictures are out of order…but you get the jist!

The view from the lift at Jay Peak (where we snowboarded):

The Vermont back roads we drove down:

We snuck to the border in some random neighborhood to get this picture:

I was a little nervous on the lift:

Snowboarding here we come:

We went to the memorial of Joseph Smith’s birthplace. I had no clue he was born in Vermont:

This is the monument built for him. Kind of a cool story. It was built in 1905:

Out front of the place we snowboarded at:

Some cool ice on the side of the road:

It was a great trip. I was so glad to go back East! My thanks to Chris and Liz! (And Mike…who paid for my trip…he must like me.)

The Battle of Buzz Lightyear

My sister and her family went to Disneyland this weekend..and well, I had to invite myself. 🙂 I was laughing at the pictures we sent from the Buzz Lightyear ride.

I look like I am up to something and Wayne looks really intent on his target. I’m so mad our scores didn’t show up because I SMOKED Wayne! I was the 99,000.

Wayne sent this to me a couple days later..to show how much he whooped up on my score. Competitve much? Hey! If I stayed there for three days I would have been that high too!

This one makes me laugh because hard to believe, Sarah was playing on the right side. Haha.

P90x Lean Version

My coworker back in August came in and was telling me about a program where he and his wife go into their garage and workout every night. I totally blew it off thinking it was just another lame exercise video. Anyway, as the months rolled on I was noticing this guy was totally getting skinny! Of course he claimed it was the video. Then I was in denial and told him it only happens to boys, because we all know by watching Biggest Loser and other weight loss challenges, that guys lose so much faster!

After much coaxing and seeing the infomercial, I requested it for my Christmas gift. It was a little delayed, but I just got it two weeks ago.

I decided to do the Lean version instead of the classic, and I must say…I don’t think my coworker was lying. I don’t want to jinx myself or anything, but I am going on Week 2 and I slipped 3 pounds lower and have noticed a difference majorly in my arms, back, and abs. Let’s see if this really works. The only thing I need to work on is the diet a little more. I eat a lot of whole grain, chicken, fruits and veggies…hopefully Disneyland won’t hurt me this weekend! 🙂

Sunday DAY OF REST 🙂

The Beach.

Today is so beautiful out. It made me miss the beach. This is St. John, VI. My favorite beach in the world. I want to go back.

This is Cocoa Beach. I used to hang out here when I worked at Disney World.
This is Huntington Beach. I know how to get here by heart. There is a perfect spot to the left of the pier where you can sit and read and watch the surfers. Good times.

Snowboard Fever

I flew last weekend to New Mexico to go snowboarding with Mike in Ruidoso. It was our first of many planned snowboarding trips and we had a blast!

This was on the top of the mountain when we took a Gondala up the mountain. Too bad there was a lot of snow…too bad there was not much on the bottom.

We were excited to find someone to take a picture of both of us in the parking lot with our snowboards. 🙂
I tried to be a good photographer and take action shots of Mike. Mike has a better eye than I do when it comes to pictures, but hey, I tried!
The dramatic Mike pose.
I really liked this shot and Mike looks like such a pro. 🙂
Riding up on the Gondala…
Again, at the top of the mountain.
Mike ready to roll.

My short snowboard..for my short stumpy legs…haha.
I made Mike go on a seperate lift because I get too scared jumping off the lift. Thats the only part I am afraid of. Funny thing is I biffed it anyway! 🙂
Mike’s cool cuffs in his snowboarding jacket.
It was nice to get a good snowboard in….because we will be heading to Vermont in three weeks to do it again!! Yay!

Roswell, New Mexico

While I am visiting Mike in Cruces for winter break, Mike still had to work so I decided to join him in Roswell and explore the city.

It started off at the Roswell Walmart. Then off to the visitors center. They were so excited to see me they gave me a giftbag with all sorts of goodies. Then it was off to the UFO museum. Sad to say, after going I am not a believer, but it was very entertaining. Hehe.

Christmas Vacation with Mike

Sorry its been a while since I have blogged. Christmas has been so busy!

Mike flew in the Friday we got out for break. The weekend consisted of all you can eat sushi, going to Red Rock, an IMAX movie, visiting the Bellagio, driving down the Strip, hanging with the family, and of course more eating. Here are some pictures from the trip! So fun!

Family Tradition

Every year my sister, dad, and my brother’s family all pack themselves in a van and go to The Gift of Lights at Sunset Park and then go to Ethel M for a walk through the decorated cactus garden. I have always heard tales of beasts driving the van, lots of chaos and screaming, and of course the occasional “stench” one of the kids leaves in the van full of people. I never participated until this year, and I knew I had to do it. I made my cousin Amanda join in on the chaos and good times were had! Even though we were stuck with the kids in the back and got trampled on the whole time, it was really fun. Amanda said it was family bonding at its finest. 🙂
